Student Scholarship

The American Medical Writers Association Southwest Chapter Student Scholarship for Biomedical Communications is awarded each year to the winner of an essay competition on a topic in scientific research, biomedical technology, or biomedical communication. The winning essay is selected by blinded judges on the basis of appropriateness of tone, technical correctness, and writing style. Winners receive a check for $500, a certificate of recognition from the American Medical Writers Association Southwest chapter, and a one-year membership in AMWA.

Schedule

  • January or February: The essay competition is announced. Information is posted on this Web site.
  • March or April: Deadline for entries.
  • May: Award made to the winner at the chapter's meeting in Houston.
