AMWA Southwest July 2008 Meeting
July 19, 2008
"You: The Exhibit," with special lecture by Phil Lindsey, creator of the exhibit
The Health Museum
Houston, Texas

Imagine seeing yourself in 30 years, changing your physical features in an instant, visualizing the effects of lifestyle choices, or experiencing life in a city on the other side of the world without ever leaving Houston. Now, you can do just that.

On Saturday, July 19, the Southwest Chapter of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) will sponsor a visit to the “You: The Exhibit” at The John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science (The Health Museum) and a special introductory lecture by the exhibit’s creator, Phil Lindsey. The day's program, which will begin at 12:15 pm with a box lunch catered by Jason's Deli, will provide an excellent networking opportunity for current and prospective medical communicators. You need not be an AMWA member to attend.

About the Exhibit

Using the latest multimedia and special effects technology, You: The Exhibit  guides you through investigations into the who, what, where, when, and how of YOU—your physical, mental, and future selves—with illustrations of how lifestyle choices such as diet and where you choose to live can affect you physically, socially and psychologically, and intriguing and entertaining activities like changing your physical features or experiencing how people would react to you as a movie star. With more than a dozen different interactive stations to explore, You: The Exhibit encourages interaction and participation.

The Health Museum is an interactive and entertaining science experience for all ages that promotes understanding and appreciation of the human body, mind and spirit and inspires a lifelong commitment to health and wellness. You: The Exhibit is the museum’s first new permanent exhibition since its opening in 1996. The exhibit is sponsored by Diagnostic Clinic of Houston and a number of charitable foundations.
